Is the current T20 world cup team best ?
I feel that most of the players selected for T20 world cup deserve their place in the team, given their domestic and IPL record. Let us analyze each player seperately.
MS Dhoni (capt & wk):
With his current IPL form and the cool head on shoulder as a captain, i feel his selection justified 100%.
Murali Vijay :
At current IPL form i feel he is the best fit to replace Sehwag at the top.
Gautam Gambhir :
Has not done enough in current IPL to deserve a place in the squad. But given his record from past 2 years i think selectors took a chance with his selection.
Yuvraj Singh:
Even though a big flop in IPL 3, I still feels he deserves a place in T20 team given his match winning abilities.
Suresh Raina:
He is a must selection given his current form. One player i will bet on any day. He should play short ball cautiously and make most of the other balls.
Yusuf Pathan :
Current domestic form and big hitting abilities, no selector would have left him out of the squad.
Dinesh Karthik :
I don't understand why india need second keeper. They should have opted for Uthappa in his place. If required he can be used as second wicket keeper. Given his current hitting form, i don't know how selectors missed him. Definitely this is one of the bad selections.
Ravindra Jadeja :
I don't know what he did to deserve a place in this squad. He might be a good bowler, is india playing him as a bowling alrounder? If so i feel bajji is better batsman than him for T20s. This is a very bad selection. I feel someone like Uthappa or Irfan Pathan should have got this spot.
Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar,Harbhajan Singh,:
Undoubtedly they are the best bowlers available. Must selection for the team.
Ashish Nehra:
I feel this is a 50 :50 kind of selection. I would have gone with Irfan rather than Ashish. Atleast Irfan would have given a additional batting option.
Piyush Chawla :
This is one of the bad selection in my opinion. When Pragyan Ojha and Murali Karthik were doing exceptionally well. I don't know what made selectors pick him for the team.
Vinay Kumar :
Given his form he can be additional seamer. I doubt how many matches he will get to play.
Rohit Sharma :
No one can question this guys abilities with bat. Undoubtedly one of the best talents available. But when will he use that talent :-(. People like dinesh karthik with their limited abilities with bat are scoring pile of runs at the same time Rohit is giving it away with poor shot selection and laziness. I feel he should come out of sleep and make all critics shut their mouth. Given current form, i would have gone with someone like Saurabh Tiwary or Rayudu in his place.
